geometric black change purse.

I printed off some remnant fabric and I made some cute change purses with gold metal zippers. I've been really into monochromatic colour schemes and variations of black, grey and white shades. There was a limited amount of fabric so they will be up on my Etsy. Grab one before they're gone!

alphabet mini moleskine.

Here's a new Moleskine cahier I did with the alphabet in different sized fonts. At first I thought it would be easy to print but as I was putting the letters in the chase it wasn't as easy as I thought. Giving it a go for a bit I finally got all the letters in place. I'm glad it came out well and I like the placement of them. Available soon on my site.

weekend style issue #15.

There are so many shows that I've been going through and so many Fashion Weeks that have passed so I won't go through them all this weekend. I went through the DVF show and it was not only was it a great collection of pieces that you can mix with what you have in your own wardrobe, the show itself was an eclectic mix of models of colour. I don't know if it's because DVF herself is on the CFDA but I'm glad that she is making an effort as a designer to put models of colour on the runway. Here are my picks from the DVF show.

26.2.10

braille alphabet.

I'm hoping to do more letterpress soon and I have a few ideas that I want to experiment with. I'm very interested in the aesthetic look of braille and I hope to produce a design including the braille alphabet.

vogue hommes japan #4.

It's that time again, the new issue of Vogue Hommes Japan comes out. Let's just hope I won't have trouble getting this issue like the last time.

24.2.10

dv-f'ing.

In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I'm totally DV-F'ing right now".  A reference and quote meaning that you are freaking about none other than Diane von Furstenberg.  I found out that Karlie Kloss was going to be in their look book for Spring 2010 and I found this cute video of her showing off some DVF wear.  Check it out!

23.2.10

journals.

If you haven't already read this, it's Keith Haring Journals. They re-vamped and published it into this new paperback copy from Penguin books. I've read a few times and actually had the original hardcopy book but I have now lost it. Pick it up, it makes a good read.

22.2.10

geometric paper crane.

The paper crane image has been used a lot in paper products, posters, home decor items. I didn't notice at first but the drawing of origami figures have a great geometric quality to it. Here's a new image that I've played around with that I'd like to use for my tea towels. I wanted to give it more of a 3D quality. I will probably re-work more and see what it looks like after. Here's the start of it.

20.2.10

weekend style issue #14.

It was a whirlwind of collections this past New York Fashion Week and I will be doing my top picks a little bit later. For now, I'd like to say that I back to liking Marc By Marc Jacobs, this collection at least. I mentioned earlier that I was detoxing from MBMJ for awhile in terms of the clothes and bags. I felt like I was going through a tween department store going through racks of MBMJ clothing and bags a few collections ago. I wasn't feeling where the clothing had gone and to the customer to where they are aiming it towards. Viewing this collection for Fall 2010 I'm glad to see a return to the MBMJ I know. The military jackets and the belted oversized multi coloured sweaters were a huge standout. I hope the MBMJ team will go back into the archives and redo some of the MJ classics like the Sgt Pepper Jacket we see from time to time in his collections. Let's just hope I don't lose interest in you MJ again.

19.2.10

liberty of london & target.

I'm kinda excited about this collaboration and even though it hasn't hit the shelves yet I am sure it will be a great collection for those hardcore Liberty of London fans out there. Be sure to race over to Target over the boarder once the collection hits in March. The collection includes a bike, plates, cushions, teapots and various home decor items. Can't wait!

toothy.

I am so excited to own this and it comes out soon. Although I did love Grace Coddington in the film but Anna did have some good quotes and moments in the film. Be sure to see it if you already haven't. Sienna Miller is definitely "toothy".

17.2.10

souvenirs of canada.

Jan at Poppytalk had just posted my elk pillow promoting the Poppytalk Handmade Market that is now on. Check out mine and other cool Canadian souvenirs you can get. I have an eternity scarf going to Norway, a quick shout out and thank you to my international readers and buyers. At times I never know who reads my blog but I think it's great that people around the world can connect and read like this. Thank you!

black lines.

I'm getting into making black accessories this time around. I love colour both vivid and muted but I want to continue with my palette black, grey and white. I hope to make my bag that I've drafted awhile ago. It's kind of a take on the saddle tote but more geometric, of course. I will post the sample once I have sewn it together. I am still deciding on fabrics for it. Until then here is a shot of some pieces of fabric that I printed for some change purses I am going to make.

post love day.

I got to do a couples workshop at bookhou this Valentines day with some of our friends Andrea, Neil, Rizie and Brian. It was a bustling afternoon and I'm glad I got to hang out with friends, make stuff and eat. Here's a shot what Rizie and Brian made. Thanks for everyone who came out.

in colour.

I love all things Japanese of course and headphones. So the two together is literally just a combination of true vivid colours. Check out these vivid simplistic ear buds at Kotori in Japan. Super Cawaii!

15.2.10

live from new york.

I wasn't exactly there but watching it stream live is good enough. I won't get into the whole collection yet but let's just say there were lot's of grey which I love and taupe! I think it's safe to say that taupe is the new black for Fall 2010.

international arts & crafts.

I mentioned earlier that I would participating in this month's Poppytalk Handmade Market with it's theme, International Arts & Crafts. Check out the lovely work from vendors around the world and me, representing Canada. It will be on until March 12.

14.2.10

happy heart day.

Wishing you a lovely HEART day. Hope you have a wonderful day with your loved ones. Enjoy!

13.2.10

weekend style issue #13.

There's probably not much left to be said about Mr McQueen. The fashion media, bloggers and fans around the world had their own opinions and thoughts already the day he died. I've probably blogged about him here and there since I started this blog and it's so sad that the future of the McQueen label seems bleak. After discovering his work in the mid 90's after he had just shown his graduation show I was bitten by the McQueen bug. It wasn't until 97 I saw one of his shows and became literally obsessed. Not knowing him personally his work seem to transcend a visual connection to me and through the years I've been connected. Whatever happens to the McQueen label I am glad that I've taken the journey he has shown us through his work. I'm sure there will be many retrospective shows in the future and I hope to visit it soon. Goodbye, Mr. McQueen.

12.2.10

renegade handmade.

For those of you who don't know the Renegade Craft Fairs they are a group that organizes various popular craft shows across the United States. They also have an online shop and store in downtown Chicago. Their shop is an extension to their ever popular craft shows. I will be sending some of my work to them in the next while so please do check out Renegade Handmade when you get a chance.

alexander mcqueen.

rip, Alexander McQueen. I don't think I can write anything now but there will be a special Weekend Style for McQueen. Please check back.

10.2.10

letterpress necklace.

So in love with this letterpress necklace! Great gift idea for your loved one this Valentines day. Check out more letterpress necklaces here.

acne winter jacket.

I didn't expect a winter storm to fall this week but I am glad I bought my winter jacket the other day. This Acne winter coat I've been eyeing since November 09 and I picked it up the other day. Good ol' warm Swedish designed coat. I will be wearing it for the rest of my life now.

olympic fever.

I will be participating in this months Poppytalk Handmade with it's Olympic themed market, International Arts & Crafts Fair with vendors from around the world. I will do my best to represent Canada. Check it out this weekend when the market goes up! Check for new items.

8.2.10

dear new york fashion week.

* canadian model amanda laine in marc jacobs spring 2010.

Dear New York Fashion Week, please don't let me down. All the bloggers are probably gearing up for NYFW in a few days. I have already rsvp online on Marc Jacobs dot com for their live feed of his show. Let's hope NYFW can show off some amazing stuff.

thank you.

Thank you for all the lovely people who came out to The Workroom this Sunday and came by my table. There were plenty of chocolates being bought that day and I am glad that I didn't have any leftover to bring home. If you are interested in chocolate gift sets or anything chocolate related, please email me for more information and special orders. Thank you to my sister Anna who packaged all the bars. It literally was a chocolate factory at my house. I have respect to any chocolatiers and candy makers, it is a true craft! See you at the next show.

7.2.10

what?

I would be super excited about this but I'm not. Tommy Hilfiger designed (slapped his name on it) a capsule collection of Keith Haring shoes for the shop Colette. What? Yes, I said it. Tommy Hilfiger. I found this the most oddest collaboration ever. On top of that the shoes that were "designed" are horrible. I'm very saddened by this and I hope that if you're going to do an artist collaboration do it right. Adidas was the only company that actually paid homage to Keith and Jeremy Scott would probably be the only designer that did it justice. Enjoy the video.

happy anniversary.

Today is Adam and I sixth anniversary. I won't get all sappy on here but I am happy to be with Adam and sharing our life together for these past years. To many more anniversary's to come. XOXO

weekend style issue #12.

Hope you like the new banner. It's still growing on me. Anyhow, this is no surprise that my new "it" model for 2010 is none other than Ranya Mordanova! This up and coming model stood out for me out last season and of course done editorials with my other fave Tao Okamoto . Let's hope we see lot's more of her in the season's to come.

5.2.10

busy weekend.

I got to finish up some unfinished letterpress projects at bookhou the other day and I am happy with the final product. My sister had purchased some new typefaces at Don Black. I got to use which was really fun. I will be in my kitchen finishing and packaging chocolates for this Sunday's show at The Workroom. If I haven't already harassed you to come, come check it out and buy some sweets. Have a sweet weekend folks, see you Sunday.

3.2.10

what type are you?

I've been doing a lot of letterpress lately and I thought this was really neat. If you are into fonts and letterpress you should do this test at Pentagon. I'm Dot Matrix, what type are you? Thanks to Naomi's blog for finding this.

love, from the ladies @ city of craft.

The lovely ladies at City of Craft had posted bios and a series of questions for the vendors at this Sunday's show at The Workroom.  Check out me and others at City of Craft.

co couture.

Love, love, love this packaging. Co Couture chocolates from England have this simple yet stylish packaging for their chocolates. Sort Design from Ireland did their design and hopefully I can get my hands on these!

2.2.10

three words, love my way.

One of my favourite Psychedelic Furs song. It is a prelude to Valentines Day and to my show this Sunday. Enjoy.

I can't believe how fast this is approaching.  I will be selling chocolate goodies and letterpress products at this year's Love & Rummage show at The Workroom.  Please come by and support handmade and pick up something for your sweetheart.  There will be some other lines by: davis products there so come out and check out the show.
