weekend style issue #1.

* Victor & Rolf
* Phillip Lim
* Alexander McQueen
* Marni
* Balenciaga

So this is my first edition of Weekend Style and I am so excited. I will probably post something for Saturday and Sunday or combine the two I'm still not sure. I am no way a "fashion expert" nor a "fashion blogger". I love fashion and I will be posting stuff I love. We'll see how it goes and hopefully I can keep you guys reading on the week-ends. Here are my top five picks for Spring/Summer 2010 in no particular order. There weren't many standouts for me this season but some honourable mentions are Rick Owens, Celine, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Balmain and Givenchy (loving the jackets!) Enjoy!

trick or treat.

Hope everyone has a spooky Halloween. I will be busy baking and cooking this week-end preparing for my friend's baby shower on Sunday. My idea of Halloween is if everyone was walking around in McQueen outfits, or just any day for that matter. Be sure to tune in to my very first edition of week-end posts, "Weekend Style" (name still pending!) Have a great week-end.

29.10.09

metal gear.

I'm kind of 50/50 on these SS10 Acne metal jeans. There's a lot of this warrior nomad boho look that's dominating Spring/Summer 2010 but I won't get into that right now. For now, I will wait and see until these jeans arrive from Acne and wonder how you wash these things!

28.10.09

spur magazine.

I am so excited about this. My friend Miho was getting rid of her old Japanese fashion magazines the other night and I am so excited to go through them. I mostly got Spur magazine which is one of the many fashion mags there. I think are some Japanese Vogue and Nylon in the pile too. (Sorry for the Agyness photos, the Japanese love her there!)

liar.

I didn't get to see Dragonette while in Montreal. They played the week-end I was there. This is my favourite track from their new album. Maybe next time they're in town.

27.10.09

instax instant camera.

Word on the street is that Polaroid Camera will soon be making a revival at a camera store near you. I've always been a fan of instant photos and I really love this Polaroid alternative from Fuji Film, the Instax Instant Camera. Yes, this is a for sure add on to my long list of gadgets and cool things.

giveaway winner.

The winner is number 3.  Please email your information today and claim your giveaway.  Thanks for those who entered.

rachel zoe project season 2.

I just finished Rachel Zoe Project Season 2 the other day and I thought it would be more dramatic being it's season finale. The show ended quite dismal leaving us wondering how big will Rachel Zoe Inc. expand in Season 3. I was excited to see that during one of her projects (a shoot for V Magazine) she used one of my classic models Jessica Stam. The shoot itself was okay, by the looks of the photos they were going for a low budget 80's look it came off quite different. Stam was amazing in the shoot and easily not amused by Brad and Taylor's antics in one scene of the show.

re-draw.

No one has contacted me about the giveaway so I will redraw Tuesday morning. You need to contact me the day that is drawn if not it will be re-drawn. Thank you again and good luck!

black & white.

My mushroom notebook was picked among other black & white items on Poppytalk the other day.

22.10.09

weekend style.

I haven't come up with an official name yet but I will figure something out. I'm an avid blogger and reader pretty much any chance I get. I read my blogs everyday and especially on weekends. I've noticed that weekend readership in blogs are low or non-existant. I've wanted some kind of weekend post so I came up with "weekend style" (name impending) I post a lot of various things on here that I love or inspires me but I love posting fashion/style things. All my fashion posts will now be posted on weekends to give you readers something to either look forward to or just something on the weekend to read. I am so excited so look out this weekend for my first post and to several more. Weekend Style (name... still pending)

21.10.09

thanksgiving giveaway last chance.

Sorry, for carrying out this giveaway this long. I do giveaways for my readers and a chance for you to grab some great stuff. I appreciate your readership and your comments. I blog to let you guys know what I'm up to and I read all your comments. This is your last chance to leave a comment to my Thanksgiving post and a chance for you to win some great stuff. I will announce the winner on Monday as I am out of town this week. THANKS!

alphabet.

I think I'm late with the obsession with typography and fonts. I've been browsing a few design sites and blogs and sure enough there is something with letters, type or the alphabet. I like the simplicity and shapes of the different fonts. I want to use the letters in a future project that isn't so literal. I like the idea of re-working something and turning it into something different. Here's my sister's famous alphabet wall hanging and my lines by: davis. font.

20.10.09

grace coddington.

* last minute shoot styled by Grace.
*Caroline Trentini, model.

I finally watched The September Issue. After months of waiting and false release dates, sold out shows in Toronto I just thought I'd watch it anyways. Besides all the drama that went around with me trying to view this movie I gave in and watched it anyways (not in theatres) Anyways, I loved this film and of course Grace Coddington creative director of Vogue. I mean, the film centred around Anna Wintour but I truly believed that Grace brought humanity, depth and artistry to what she does at Vogue. Go see the film however you need to see it, I did.

19.10.09

poppytalk handmade.

I mentioned this earlier this week about being a part of Poppytalk Handmade Market. It is up live now I believe so if you get the chance head over to their site and check out this month's market which changes monthly.

18.10.09

mushroom notebook.

I love how these notebooks came out. I always love a great notebook for ideas, writing or sketching. This one printed with my mushroom prints gives it a clean contrast with the grey background. Printed in a limited quantity. Get it while you can.

16.10.09

jourdan & chanel.

I am almost done watching the collections from Paris but I will post about that later. On a side note, I wanted to give a special post to Jourdan Dunn & Chanel Iman. It seems like these two girls have been doing non stop editorials with each other lately. It was only a mere few seasons ago that you could barely google search any of these girls and get nothing. Now, things have changed. I've watched Jourdan walk the runways and landing one of the Italia Vogue Black Issue covers awhile ago. (Which I have that issue, finally) After that it has been non-stop runway shows, editorials and awards. During that time Chanel Iman was also an unknown and climbing that it model ladder alongside Jourdan. I'm glad to see these girls are doing what they do best and that they're not afraid to share the runway with eachother.

uploads & updates.

I've been on the computer for more then 4 hours straight. From Photoshop to Safari back to Photoshop and so forth. I don't think I would be a good computer person. I may be tech savvy but I don't think my poor eyes can take it. My Etsy shop is somewhat updated with my Summer sale over and I will be adding new items in the coming days. It's such a process getting things updated and posted. I try my best to get things up especially with the Holiday season around the corner. I am also uploading items on Poppytalk Handmade Market for this coming month. Hopefully I will get some extra web exposure and see how things go. Thanks again Jan & Earl for the oppourtunity to be a part of your site which I am on all the time. Great web stuff coming up this month before I head out for more Holiday shows.

15.10.09

le sac.

I wanted to do a grocery bag that was great for market shopping. Le Sac is a good size and durable if you're running around town picking up bread, flowers, veggies and not doing a full on grocery shop. It's always good to have on eon hand that's big enough and cute if you're jetting around the city. Look for it soon and buy it for your shopping.

alexander mcqueen 2010 part two.

This is my second posting about the McQueen 2010 show. These shoes were truly nothing I've seen before. A part from the clothes, the shoes added more drama as they came down the runway. I posted a few of my faves but I believe there were 4-6 styles within each shoe collection. One was H R Giger-esque looking all alien. Others were claw like ballet shoes.

more eternity scarves.

This was one of thee most popular item that I sold in Montreal. Before my show I had I big response to it after I made it and posted it. I got paranoid before the show so I went and made double I had the first round of scarves. I am currently sold out of them but excited to make more. It is my new favourite accessory for this Fall/Winter season.

14.10.09

jesse purcell.

I met Jesse at Pop Montreal because his table was beside mine. He is a part of the collective with other poster artists called Just Seeds. You can purchase his work and other artists work on the website. He resides in Montreal and does solo and collective shows in the Montreal area and across North America. I fell in love with most of his prints and purchased two huge ones. Thanks Jesse for the prints and for being so helpful at the show. Hope to see you next Pop.

update.

I am currently updating work for the Poppytalk Handmade market this weekend.  Be sure to click the link and check out my new wares.  Hopefully I will get to add new stuff in the market and update it for the period the market is up until.  Please check it out this week-end.

alexander mcqueen 2010 part one.

I finally saw the collection and I fell in love. I'm very hit or miss with McQueen but I thought this collection was back to his previous shows. This show was broadcasted live over the internet on his website. I missed the live feed for this show but I thought it was very McQueen back in the day. The shoes in this show are insane so I will post them later in my second part of this post. Here's a few of my faves and of course Karlie looking all underwater nymph in her blue outfit.

10.10.09

I hope everyone is having turkey or doing something in the festive mood.  I just wanted to say thanks to all my supporters who I have met at the shows or blogged on here.  For those of you who couldn't make it to my Montreal show I thought I would do an amazing Thanksgiving giveaway this long week-end.  Leave a comment and let me know what you're thankful for an WIN this giveaway.  I will announce the winner sometime next week so please leave a comment to enter.  Have a great long week-end!  What's included in the giveaway: le sac. market bag, owl pin, linen geometric clutch, red elk shoulder bag, two organic tea towels and a mushroom journal book.

kylie.

I just saw Kylie Minogue last night and it was such an amazing concert.  From start to finish it was a visual journey of everything Kylie.

8.10.09

j'adore montreal.

So I won't bombard you with a million travel photos from Montreal but I will post a few.  It was the most fun and inspiring trip.  Being in Toronto can be a bit of a grind but being in Montreal made it a bit more relaxing.  I will hope to visit again of course and do a bit more site seeing and shopping.  Goodbye Montreal, for now.

7.10.09

poppytalk handmade.

If you don't already know, Poppytalk Handmade is an amazing site which offers all things craft, design and so much more.  I will be a part of their Poppytalk Handmade market in a few weeks.  If you're an avid blogger, Poppytalk is a must on your add on list.  Look out for my new products in the coming weeks and check out their market.

6.10.09

nouveau.

Montreal was amazing and you'll probably hear about in the next few posts but it is back to business again.  I will post more of my new work and hopefully all will be up for purchase.  It was a great experience as always at these shows. I get to meet new and old faces who get to meet and talk to me about my products.  Here are some new tea towels that were for sale at the show.

goodbye montreal, hello toronto.

I'm back home and I miss Montreal so much already.  It was a long drive back home and I have so much to blog and tell in the next few days so stay tuned.

1.10.09

can't make it marc.

So, I was oh so flattered but I don't think I can make it Marc.  Maybe next time I'm in New York.

goodbye toronto, allo montreal.

I am almost packed for my trip.  I believed I've ironed and pressed for the last few hours.  I've made more loop scarves and finished my notebooks and owl pins.  I will hopefully get a chance to photograph some of my new work or when I'm at the show.  Anyhow, I have a long car ride ahead and I will post lots from my trip and show.
